We had a great second place win and and finished out with a 95 pounds and 9 ounces. Congratulations to Ishama Monroe on his first place win. He’s definitely a great competitor.

Our technique was flipping into bulrushes with a “broomstick” All-Star rod. The line was a 65-pound Stren Superbraid and my go-to lure is a Gambler Ninja jig.

When I set the hook, I had my drag cranked all the way down, and those fish went nuts. These were some of the meanest fish in the country. They mow you over, mow the reeds over, and it’s so hard to get to them. But when you do, they’re big!

Overall, we were thrilled to be a part of the 2012 Power-Pole Slam and can’t wait to come back next year!
